Horse Training
-
Our utmost priority is the health, wellbeing and safety of the horses entrusted to us. We ask that your horse arrives in good health, with adequate teeth and hooves. If your horse requires handling before a farrier can work with it, please discuss this with us.
We invite owners to discuss their horses’ individual nutritional needs with us and provide supplementary feed for their horses. Please provide rugs that are appropriate for the weather during your horses’ stay.
New horses are given worming treatment and monitored in one of our generous areas for a few days. These measures help to protect our pastures and horses from parasites. Please provide any worming records you have for your horse via email. These may include dates they have been wormed, what product they were given, and fecal egg count reports.
If your horse wears shoes, please ensure a fresh set has been applied prior to arrival. Training may be delayed in the event of a lost shoe. If we notice a sharp edge, crack or abnormality in a hoof, we may make a minor adjustment, For example, a quick file with a hoof rasp may prevent a chip from escalating.
In the case that a horse becomes injured or unwell, we are able to coordinate with veterinarians for appointments made by owners.
Owners accept responsibility for their horse and any ailments or needs that arise. We want each horse to feel comfortable during their stay, and work with owners to ensure their horses’ needs are met.
-
We encourage horse owners to visit by appointment during their horses’ stay, and gain some insight on their training journey. If you would like horsemanship coaching before, during or after your horses’ stay with us, we recommend getting in touch at your earliest convenience to secure a booking that works for you.

Horses have individual brains, histories and learning capacities. We are flexible and strive to accomodate each horse and owner. Horses need to be returned to homes that are equipped to maintain and build upon the training that we provide. To prepare our clients for the return of their horse, we prioritise keeping horse owners informed as their horses progress through our training programs.
We offer a 90 minute complimentary horsemanship lesson at the end of a horses’ training visit. Clients also value the opportunity to be coached at home. We welcome owners to book in for supplementary horsemanship coaching before, during and after a horses’ stay with us. We’re dedicated to the continued progress of the horses we train, and typically provide ongoing horsemanship coaching sessions with owners and their horses.

Colt Starting
With over ten years of experience, Claire has developed a kind and efficient method for starting horses. Our program, based on trust and integrity, prioritizes desensitization exercises to establish trust with the horses. Every horse, regardless of breed, receives a solid ground work foundation before riding begins.
We’ve taken on Brumbies, Walers, Australian Stock Horses, Quarter Horses, Thoroughbreds, Standardbreds, Arabians, Welsh ponies, Riding Ponies, Shetlands, Miniatures, and more. Owners can expect their horses to be responsive, supple, relaxed, and capable.

Further Education
This service is for horses who have been started and possess basic education, but require more training to excel in a range of disciplines. This service is designed to fine-tune the abilities of the horse and direct training towards the owner’s chosen disciplines. Our focus is the refinement of the horse’s knowledge, suppleness, and athletic ability. This program covers:
Refining foundations
Disciplinary training
Exposure to new & ‘scary’ things
Taking horses on outings for exposure
Putting ‘miles’ on horses
Bringing horses back into work
Preparing horses for sale

Problem Solving
Issues with horse behaviour often stem from a lack of respect or presence of fear, sometimes both. These behaviours may occur due to training deficits or unintentional reinforcement. We may suggest a vet check to rule out physical issues.
Common challenges include trailer loading, water entry, hoof handling, head-shyness, fearfulness, disrespect, stubbornness, bucking, rearing, biting, kicking, dominance, and other undesirable behaviors. We specialize in improving horse-human relationships and addressing behavioural gaps.
